Our team is young, hungry and hard-working. After graduating from the ERA accelerator in April of 2014, we raised $1.2 million from some of the world's leading VCs and grew our team to 10 people covering sales, customer success, product, engineering, and learning (teacher training/curriculum development). Lingo Live is the very definition of a scrappy, hyper-growth company. We use software to facilitate this live interaction by (i) connecting students and teachers in the most optimal way through our algorithm, (ii) allowing students to manage their lesson schedule through a flexible scheduling system, and (iii) showing students and HR/Learning & Development customers their return on investment through a delightful progress dashboard that shows progress and engagement across the organization globally. We do this by connecting our students with a live teacher that knows exactly what they need. We believe the only way you'll actually learn to speak a language is if the learning marries relevancy, motivation and accountability. We know that learning a foreign language is hard. Lessons take place on our platform around the clock in countries across every continent except Antartica ) How We Do It We are one of the fastest-growing education technology companies in the country and are fortunate to call leading innovators like Twitter, Google and NBC Universal as our customers. Over the past 3 years, we have grown revenue 300% Year over Year and the average customer has quadrupled their spend with us. 90% of our business is teaching English to non-native English speakers. Today, Lingo Live is an online school that teaches employees at multinational companies to learn to speak a foreign language. After 2 years of taking lessons with Kathy, Tyler was fluent in Spanish and realized that this could be a business. It was cheap, convenient, and fun so he kept going with it. A visit to Craigslist introduced him to Kathy, a Guatemalan who taught over Skype, and she gave him lessons at 10pm every night. That was, and still is, very difficult to find. What he wanted was a private tutor, that was available after 8pm, and didn't cost an arm-and-a-leg. In 2011, Tyler was was searching for an instructor to teach him Spanish to get him ready for a trip to Cuba. Lingo Live started based on our founder Tyler's personal experience learning Spanish.
